Do you realize that the black race is starting to realize the dream?
Yes, there is still a lot of racism out there. We still have a lot of problems, but we are getting there. Education is paramount now. Teen pregnacies are down in many areas. We have many high powered jobs. We have become an intimidating force to be reckoned with. Just look at the questions in here. The number of questions and answers that attack the white race is considerably less than those that attack the black race. Usually that shows intimidation and jealousy. Some of the answers are intellectual and show our progress. As a black race we have got to stop using the N word. People died so we never would have to be called that word again. We have to stop exploiting our sistahs with our music and words. We have to uplift our brothas and encourage them. Once again bring fidelity back into our relationships. We are making progress. There will be people to call me a racist and there will be some that will try to insult who I am, but it is fine. Can you see the dream??
Yes I can.
I am white. Actually, more like pink, there is no such thing as white. And there is no such thing as black, it is brown. Brown and pink work for me.
I work with a number of brown people, and I have a lot of respect for them. One of the finest ones I know runs the data base administration department, and it looks like the UN down there, Asians, Africans (not race, I mean person from Africa), and a couple of white boys. He is completely color blind when it comes to hiring.
Very unusual person. So yeah, I agree with what you are saying. The opportunities are out there at this point. If you want to become a contributing member of society, you can do it, and your skin color will not hold you back. Your attitude and education will though, so work on them. Nobody is going hire somebody for a serious job if they go "Where I be at?".
Ball is in your court. Take a swing at it.
The secretary of state is a black female. The previous one was a black male, who was formerly the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.
Open your eyes guys, the opportunities are there.
Whats the better talk show :Jerry Springer or Tyra?
Jerry Springer lets the weirdest ppl come on his show and he exploits them and instead of tryna help them he tries to make them look stupid.
On the other hand Tyra Banks does the same boring thing everyday she interviews teen sluts, black women ashamed of being black, and gay men.And most of her guests are women.
So which show do you think is better Jerry Springer or Tyra?
i don't think either of them would be known as the [best] talk show.
Now if you put: Steve, Maury,Tyra and Jerrry together that might give be one heck of a interesting talk show.
Punk yellow- orange Mohawk and face piercings, black leather coat and trousers, worn by a middle aged mother?
She was with her 2 young teen guyren at the train station. I wondered what statement is she making and why?. The guys wre in school uniform.
Someone passed by and said `yo pukes rock`, and she said she was into `the exploited`. They replied ` exploited is a good word`
The question again ` what statement is she making and why`?.
There are alot of men and women that still havent grown up and want to remain in that rebellious stage and trying to attract attention in the wrong way. That is something we do when we are young the face piercings the mohawk all these things we do to stand out, to shock. So the message she is giving out is dont let me face the real world and make me feel my misspent youth is fading fast. The women needs to show herself some self respect but will she I doubt it.
I'm considering moving near Seattle, probably Issaquah..any help?
I am most likely moving in the summer-fall of 2008. I'll just be 18. I live in the Los Angeles area now.
1.How is the fashion scene out there compared to LA? (I want to be a fashion designer for guys and teens.)
2.Is there any good fashion design or interior design schools near Issaquah?
3.Where is the best shopping? (typical girl question)
I'm into punk. NOT green day, my chemical romance or fall out boy BUT RATHER dead kennedys, black flag, suicidal tendencies, the misfits, and the exploited....etc.
4.Does this music scene exist out there? Where?
5.What is there to do for teens nearby? Ex.bowling, mini golf, amusement parks, arcades...etc.
Thank you for all your help!
Well, Issaquah is an interesting choice for an 18 year old aspiring fashion designer...
Issaquah is a suburb of Seattle, mostly families, expensive, and not really where I would say there is a "happening fashion scene".
1. I would say as a city on the whole, Seattle doesn't really care about fashion. Sure, there are people who do, and they wealthy spend lots of money on their clothes, but the rest of us tend to have other things that we care about.
2. Fashion design schools: The Art Institute of Seattle (in Seattle) www.artinstitutes.edu/seattle/pro…
You can get a two year certificate in interior design from Bellevue Community College (close to Issaquah). bellevuecollege.edu/
3. The best shopping close to Issaquah is Bellevue Square, but be prepared to pay for it. www.bellevuesquare.com/index.php
4. There is a punk scene in Seattle, but to get into most of the shows you have to be 21. www.thefunhouseseattle.com/
5. Things to do: In Issaquah specifically? I would say get out the phonebook. In there area, there is a lot to do, especially if you are into the outdoors: hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, etc.

Did South Park get it right about vampires?
I just watched the South Park episode entitled 'The Ungroundable' & I must say they did a 100% perfect portrayal of this whole vampire fad. As the South Park goth guys say "If, however, you like dressing in black because it's fun, enjoy putting sparkles on your cheeks and following into a cult while avoiding things that are bad for your health, then you are most likely a douchebag vampire wannabe *****. Because anyone who thinks they are actually a vampire is freaking retarded."
Now I am pretty openminded about the supernatural but this whole vampire fad is getting out of control...& its all thanks to Twilight. Personally I think the books are good but the film was absolutely poorly written & poorly directored which of course made it so unbearable & horrible. Don't give me links & information about sanguarian & psi vampyres because that is partly responsible for this vampire fad. It seems to me that people are just trying to exploit & trying to malipulate teens into thinking that they have vampirism which is iron deficiency. Sorry to burst you're bubble psi & sanguarian is fake but vampirism is real. They're just preying on the young & innocent teenage minds.
South Park is great because it makes fun of everyone and is always at least partly right. You ain't nobody 'til South Park spoofs you. I loved the "Ungroundable" episode, though it only looks at the fad of vampire wannabes, not at the people who quietly live their lives without fake fangs and Hot Topic clothing.
Stuff South Park got right:
1. Some teens like to adopt a vampire persona because they think it's cool and "dark", but they aren't actually vampires.
2. Many people quote terms from the vampire subculture without understanding what they really mean.
3. Real vampires don't sparkle. People who think real vampires are like those in Twilight are idiots.
4. Real vampires do sometimes hang out at coffee shops late at night.
5. Many real vampires drink orange juice and try to eat healthy foods. (Many smoke and drink coffee too, though.)
6. Goths and vampires are not the same, though people often confuse them with each other.
7. Clamato juice is terrible, but drinking it won't turn you into a vampire.
If all the real vampire sites are exploiting impressionable young people, what do you think they're getting out of this? It's not money. With the exception of the TOV and a handful of vampire "celebrities", I don't think anyone is making money off saying they're a vampire, per se. ;-)
I care too much about the GLBTQ community?
Okay...This is going to sound absolutely ridiculous.
I don't know what to do. I'm straight.
My "Obsession" started about a year ago.
I'm obsessed with GLBTQ rights and everything. It's...odd.
I can't stand listening to people say things like "That's so gay" or "that's h*mo" or "f*g". I get so angry. People talk like that everyday in my English class, and I told my teacher that it bothered me, but she said "You're more mature then the people your age, so you kind of just have to deal with it" But I can't handle it! I want to scream at them, and tell them all to shut up. Tell them how homophobic they're being, even if they don't realize it.
I'm in the Gay Straight Alliance at my school, there's only four other members. My mom says that I'm doing enough, but I don't feel like I am.
I go on the computer and search up statistics about the GLBTQ community, suicide statistics, homelessness statistics. It's terrible.
Today, I watched Dr.Phil, and he was talking about the recent gay teen suicides. I started crying, so hard. It was just terrible. Horrible. I think that's why I can't handle the homophobic slurs, because I know the consequences of that. Most of the people I've told about the suicides, just brush it off. "Well think about how many gay teens don't commit suicide" they told me. That doesn't help.
My mom is getting frustrated. She says its consuming me. I don't know why I care so much, but I do! She's mad because I'm straight, and I don't know any GLBTQ people. She thinks it's all I care about. I care about other things, racism, animal abuse, prejudice in general. Homeless people, sexual exploited people. But this is the one I think about the most, and I don't understand why.
My mom thinks I shouldn't try to fight their battles for them, and she thinks I should stop trying to shove my beliefs down other peoples throats. But that isn't what I'm trying to do, not at all. I'm just trying to stop the hatred, the rising suicide rates. I don't even care if someone doesn't agree with being GLBTQ, as long as they aren't vocal about it.
Like I said, I'm straight. I'm not in denial or anything, so I don't know why I care so much. I didn't think it was a bad thing that that was my biggest stress, until Mom told me that I was being to serious. That I "cared" to much. I didn't even think that was possible. She thinks I'm too serious, maybe I am. I don't have any friends, and because I'm "goth/emo" or whatever, I "separate myself even more. "
I feel like a freak, and I have no right too. Most people my age care about things like Justin Bieber or what hairstyle they should get next. Which is fine, their acting their age. The only thing I can think about is how people have harder lives then me, or how life is unfair for them. It shouldn't matter if your skin is black, if your overweight, if you like guys instead of girls. I think it is unfair that people have to tell everyone that they aren't straight, because everyone just assumes that they are. It pisses me off.
I don't know what to do anymore. I can't interact socially. I can't make friends. I can't volunteer anywhere, for another two months. Right now, I am basically just a useless lump. I feel worthless when I am not helping someone.
I don't pity anyone for any other reason then the fact that they get bullied. It's not like I feel bad for gay people because they are gay, I feel bad that they get bullied for it. I wish it was okay to just be you.
I don't even know why I posted this. Anyways...here are my questions...
Is this at all, in anyway normal?
What kind of volunteering can I do for the GLBTQ community? Other then donating money or something...I'm not legally old enough to work yet.
What can I talk about...that's somewhat normal for a thirteen year old?
Does anyone have any idea why I care so much? "Too much"
I hate how people make me feel bad for caring. I didn't even know you could care to much.
This was far to long for anyone to actually read. Sorry about that. But thanks for reading anyway.
Make Love, Not War,
Hey Reuben,
I can see from your question that yes, you do seem to care about this issue and yes you would like to do something. I think that your frustration at not being able to is what is pushing you forward. Perhaps you do care "too much" as it seems it is taking over your life, stopping you having friends etc.
As a gay person myself, I can tell you that attitudes are improving and not as bad as they used to be, even from when I was at school (I'm now 34). You do appear to be more mature in your attitude than the other people you are at school with, as it is common for words such as fag, homo, queer and poof to be used as a put-down, but consider this,so is ginge, four eyes, fatso, minger etc. Guyren will always pick on other guyren for any reason, even if the words they use are not true.
As to what you say about not knowing anyone that is gay, all I can say is, I bet you do. Being at school and at the age of 13, the people that will later come out are still dealing with it themselves instead of screaming it from the top of the highest building. The best thing you can do right now is to be a friend to them and give them support should they tell you that they are gay.
A friend, when you need one is more important and worth more than giving away all your money. You have to realise that you cannot change everybodys lives in one go, but if you can turn around a friends life and make them feel accepted, wouldn't that be a great achievement?
In the meantime you have to concentrate on your life and yourself, your time to be the fantastic friend you want to be will come.
I wish you all the best
